Melbourne, Florida) – Animal Cancer Care Clinic (ACCC), one of the nation’s largest veterinary oncology practices with eight locations in Florida, has doubled the size of its clinic in Melbourne, located at 901 Jordan Blass Drive. Officially open to patients as of late January, the new space includes a surgical suite, chemotherapy room, an expanded and renovated lobby, a larger treatment area and three exam rooms.
“The demand for veterinary oncology support in the Melbourne community has been growing rapidly in recent years,” said ACCC Founder and President Dr. Stephanie Correa. “Our employees and our clients are excited about this new and much-needed larger space. Everyone has been immensely tolerant these past few months during construction.”
Dr. Tammi Ruddle, who is board certified in surgery and lives in the Melbourne area, will continue to work out of the Orlando clinic while also providing much-needed surgical support twice a month in Melbourne for ACCC’s Animal Patients facing cancer. Medical oncologists Erin Roof, DVM, DACVIM, Board Certified in Medical Oncology, and Carrissa Wood, DVM, Practice Limited to Oncology, also will be on site to provide consultations, diagnosis and treatment plans for dogs and cats. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday.
Starting in May, the Melbourne clinic also will be one of the few veterinary practices in Florida to offer Electrochemotherapy, a procedure that uses short high voltage pulses to disrupt the cancer cell’s membrane. The therapy creates pores, which allow the chemotherapy to better penetrate and destroy cancer cells. Anesthesia is required for the treatment but reported side effects are minor.
